U.S. Army soldiers begin loading an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter onto an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, Robert Gray Army Airfield, Fort Hood, Texas, Jan. 10, 2009.

The soldiers are assigned to the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.

Loading of a single Apache on the C-17 requires the 4 main rotor blades, stabilator and all radio antennas to be removed from the helicopter.
