SOUTH CHINA SEA (June 26, 2009) U.S. Marines from 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, and Malaysian Army soldiers from the 9th Royal Malay Regiment arrive at the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) after participating in jungle survival training with members of the Malaysian Army 8th Royal Ranger Regiment. The training was part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2009. CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
