Dual Underway Replenishment

PACIFIC OCEAN (June 24, 2009) Ship's Boatswain Dave Floyd fires a guide line from the Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4) to the Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Amelia Earhart (T-AKE 6) for a dual underway replenishment. Richard E. Byrd will receive medical and engineering supplies as well as personnel for the Pacific Partnership 2009 deployment and Amelia Earhart will receive supplies for Talisman Saber, an annual exercise involving the U.S. military and Australia Defense Forces. One Team

Airmen unfold and position stretchers at the side of a Turkish air force C-130 on the flightline, June 22. Eleven victims of a June 20, suicide truck bombing in Taza District south of Kirkuk city that killed more than 80 people and injured 250 were brought here for aeromedical evacuation to Ankara, Turkey. U.S. and Turkish Airmen, U.S. State Department and Army officials at the Kirkuk Provincial Reconstruction Team, or PRT, and Turkish Red Crescent Society medical responders helped coordinate and facilitate the flight.
