SASEBO, Japan (July 8, 2009) The mine countermeasures ship USS Avenger (MCM 1) is secured on the deck of a heavy lift vehicle carrier contracted by Military Sealift Command as they arrive in Sasebo. Avenger, one of three mine countermeasures ships deployed to Sasebo is expected to conduct an extended deployment to the western Pacific Ocean in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
