KUNAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – A local village elder shows U.S. Army 1st Lt. Aaron Malcolm, a native of Lake Charles, La., a broken well in the village of Shinkowak in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, Sept. 19.

Malcolm serves as a platoon leader with Company C, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment.
