I think you must mean 「伊江島」 (“Ie-shima” (or Ie-jima)).

Actually, that’s the way DOD labeled the photo. Have passed the question along to them, but they’re pretty busy these days.

Well, it’s not a big deal.
But there’s no “Le Shima” in Japan…but there is a “Ie-jima” which sometimes is read “Ie-shima” near Okinawa.

It seems to have been a typo error. In some fonts, lower case “L” looks a lot like an upper case “I” and that seems to have been the “stone in the shoe” on this one. The tip of our hat to you for your tip.
