Guiding A Vehicle Into A Compound

Sgt. James Humerick, squad leader, 3rd Platoon, Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, guides an all-terrain vehicle into a compound 3/3 occupied for the first night of Operation Cobra in Southern Shorshork, Helmand province, Afghanistan, June 16.

Humerick is from Great Falls, Mont.

Operation Cobra is a joint operation between Marine Corps units and the Afghanistan National Army to disrupt enemy forces, which have been using the sparsely populated region between Marjah and Nawa as a safe haven.

THAAD System Intercepts Target In Successful Missile Defense Flight Test

June 28, 2010 - The Missile Defense Agency and U.S. Army soldiers of the 6th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from Fort Bliss, Texas, successfully conducted an intercept test for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile defense element of the nation’s Ballistic Missile Defense System. A target missile was launched at approximately 9:32 p.m. Hawaii time, June 28 (3:32 a.m. EDT, June 29), and about five minutes later a THAAD interceptor missile was launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) off the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
