Secretary of the Navy Administers Oath Of Office At Commissioning Ceremony

NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY, Bahrain (May 16, 2013) Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Ray Mabus administers the oath of office to Fire Control Technician 1st Class Earl Thurman during a commissioning ceremony aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) pierside in Manama, Bahrain. Mabus is in Bahrain as part of a larger visit throughout the region where he is meeting with military and civilian leaders to discuss maritime security and talking with Sailors and Marines to thank them for their service and sacrifice. Operation Rising Sun III

Soldiers of Company C “Chaos”, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, Combined Task Force 4-2 and Weapons Company, 6th Kandak, 205th Afghan National Army exit a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near the Kheybari Ghar ridgeline in the Panjwa’i District of Afghanistan as part of “Operation Rising Sun III” May 2. Warrior Games 2013

Team Air Force athletes enter the U.S. Olympic Training Center during the opening ceremony for the 2013 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 11. 2013. From May 11-16, more than 200 wounded, ill and injured servicemembers and veterans from the U.S. Marines, Army, Air Force and Navy, as well as a team representing U.S. Special Operations Command and an international team representing the United Kingdom, will compete for the gold in track and field, shooting, swimming, cycling, archery, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and U.S. Air Force Academy.
