Reorganization Enhances C2 Testing, Tactics, Training

The guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) arrives in Porto Palermo, Albania, to participate in an exercise with the Albanian navy. Monterey, homeported in Norfolk, Va., is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility. An MV-22B Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 266 Reinforced, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conducts touch and go exercises in the Fifth Fleet area of operations, April 26, 2013. The 26th MEU is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force.
