Kodiak Launch

The Office of Naval Research-sponsored tactical satellite IV (TacSat-4) lifts-off from the Alaskan Aerospace Corporation's Kodiak Launch Complex aboard a Minotaur IV+ launch vehicle. Built by the Naval Research Laboratory and Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, TacSat-4 will allow troops using existing radios to communicate on-the-move and from obscure regions. Spruance In Key West For Commissioning Ceremony

KEY WEST, Fla. (Sept. 23, 2011) The guided-missile destroyer pre-commissioning unit (PCU) Spruance (DDG 111) arrives at Naval Air Station Key West for its formal commissioning ceremony to be held Oct. 1. The ship, named in honor of Adm. Raymond Spruance, commander of Carrier Task Force 16 during the World War II Battle of Midway, is commanded by Cmdr. Tate Westbrook of Murfreesboro, Tenn. US, Bangladesh Navies Complete At-Sea Portion Of CARAT Bangladesh

CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (Sept. 20, 2011) A Bangladesh navy rigid hulled inflatable boat team trains with U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to Riverine Squadron (RIVRON) 1 during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Bangladesh 2011. CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance force readiness. Bangladesh is participating in this exercise for the first time.
